And a Sixpence in your shoe…
“Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue… and a sixpence in your shoe.” The old wedding poem was the start of the Sixpence name.
The “forgotten” line of the poem, “and a sixpence in your shoe,” encompassed the exact portrayal of their space that they were looking for. Because this is an overlooked detail in the poem, their vision was to bring this phrase back to life along with a wedding venue that reflects thoughtfulness in every aspect.
The Sixpence came to fruition through years of experience in the wedding industry. For Shelby (Henry) Dempsey, she began in the photo and video world. She spent years as a professional serving clients around the world and seeing all of the things she loved and didn’t love about wedding days and of course, venues.
She wasn’t completely confident that there was a venue in her hometown that offered the true meaning of both functionality and aesthetics. Together with her parents, Chris and Tana Henry, Shelby built The Sixpence barn from the ground up, on 17 acres of property, designed with beauty and hosting in mind.
The Sixpence offers many features that serve their clients in unique and elevated ways. They have overnight accommodations, multiple indoor and outdoor celebration spaces, private getting ready suites, customizable bar packages, ADA-compliant and accessible facilities— this venue space plus all of their services goes to showcase how their team has thought through every detail of hosting the PERFECT event.
